I was born in Northridge, California on September 4, 1978 to Daniel & Denise Sands. I was greeted by a two year old sister, Christina, and a very large family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. My father was a keyboard player for a hit band called ‘Felony’ and my mother owned her own cleaning business. At 13 months of age, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and went on to become the poster child for the Southern California Arthritis Foundation several years in a row.
On July 4, 1988, I moved with my family to a small town at the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park. Oakhurst, California is what I consider to be my hometown. While attending Yosemite High School, I worked for a local Internet Service Provider where I offered technical support and first started developing websites. After graduating in 1996, I moved to Berkeley, California where I eventually found employment at another ISP doing the same type of work. During my five years in the Bay Area, I developed many websites for small businesses, as well as large corporations.
In 2002, I moved back to my hometown and started my own web development firm, Oakhurst Online. Over a decade later, I continue to provide quality web hosting, development and promotion services. In addition, I’m very involved with community events and fundraising for local charities. In fact, I was named the 2014/15 Honorary Mayor of Oakhurst by The Eastern Madera County Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
